Preventative Herd Health Program

Developing a preventative herd health program is important to reduce illness and help prevent reproductive and performance losses in your cattle operation. It is helpful to work with a cattle veterinarian and other industry experts to determine what the risk factors for various diseases are and what should be included as part of a good vaccination program. Pathogens (i.e., a bacteria, virus, or other organism that can cause disease) leading to common diseases in cattle are transmitted in a number of ways. In upcoming BQA tips, risk factors and routes of infection will be highlighted for common cattle diseases.
